"Doctor, did you lie to me? You said I would be ok. You told me not to worry, I worried everyday. Oh, come on doctor,
why do I have to start over?"
"I'm just so tired, and I really just don't care right now. I will start later. Right now, I just want to lay here. I don't see a need to rush this."
"For now, I'll continue my regular power workouts and pray that my body heals itself. I'll also continue my daily physical tasks and maybe just use lighter weights in the gym."
"I can't believe this happened to me. Is there a reason the universe is targeting me? I need to figure this out first. Will I ever heal?"
"What is this stupid band exercise doing for me? I don't even feel it working. My physical therapist prescribed a home program but it's just a bunch of baby exercises with bands, balls, and straps. What a waste of time."
"Why do I need to work on my upper spine when my leg is the problem? I should be doing leg exercises. I'll skip my PT exercises and try leg exercises I saw online."
"I didn't do my physical therapy after my injury so I'm sure my injuries are permanent now. I'll get ideas from YouTube to help me manage. I don't plan on doing any PT at this point."
Many of these types of post injury thoughts will only allow the possibility of altered movement patterns to develop or worsen. For example, ignoring rehabilitating an ankle injury may lead to hip and knee misalignment which may also result in hip, knee and or low back pain.
